San Rafael Joe’s once again hosted for our Wine & Dine event to benefit Camp Chance 2014.
Starting the evening off, guests were treated to appetizers and Schug 2010 Rouge de Noirs sparkling wine while they mingled and perused silent auction items.
As the salad course began, San Rafael Youth Services Bureau’s Rebecca Kuga welcomed everyone to the event, introduced San Rafael Chief of Police Diana Bishop, and master of ceremonies Ed Vaughn.
Throughout the dinner, Schug Winemaker Mike Cox presented specially chosen wines (Schug 2011 Chardonnay, Schug 2011 Pinot Noir, and Schug 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, Schug 2010 Cabernet Franc).
A short video was shown, highlighting previous camp attendees and how the camp has been a positive influence in their lives. San Rafael Police Department Deputy Mike Mathis then spoke briefly about his personal experience working with camp kids and the importance of supporting the program.
Auctioneer extraordinaire Ed Vaughn led a spirited live bidding for several auction items — ranging from a week stay at Kauai’s Westin Princeville Resort Ocean Villas, to a Texas Holdem Poker Tournament. One of the hottest bidding was for the sold-out annual Lobster Feed at Schug Carneros Estate Winery in their underground barrel cave.
Guests also gave generously during the fund-a-need portion of the auction. The evening netted about $18,000 for Camp Chance, a program completely funded by donations from citizens and local businesses.
Thank you to all of this year’s sponsors!
