The Paramount/Netflix film production ‘13 Reasons Why’ will begin streaming on March 31 and San Rafael was the home base for this new series about teen bullying. Many SRPD officers worked overtime shifts to assist with filming in several San Rafael neighborhoods (including Gerstle Park, Peacock Gap, Bret Harte, West End, and Downtown) that are featured throughout the series. Based upon a best-selling mystery novel, this is a highly anticipated project with a lot of buzz in the film industry — Selena Gomez is the Executive Producer and Tom McCarthy directed the first two episodes (won Academy Award for best film for recent movie ‘Spotlight’ and he also directed ‘The Station Agent’).
Paramount/Netflix is hosting a “thank you” private event at the Rafael Theatre on Sunday, April 2nd at 1830 hours and we have 25 tickets to GIVE AWAY to SRPD! Each ticket is good for two (2) people to attend. Tickets are free but a $10 donation is suggested and all proceeds will go to Camp Chance. We hope to raise $800, enough to send one kid to Camp Chance this July.
For tickets and/or more information, contact Rebecca Kuga via e-mail or ext. 3025.
